Certified Instrument Tech /40 HOURS /DAY / FXB OR/CSS

The CentralProcessing Technician (CPD Tech) is an integral member of the healthcare teamand is accountable for providing sterile instruments on time for patientsscheduled for the Day Surgery Unit and all Foxboro Clinics.
The CPDTech participates in all aspects of instrument and endoscope processingincluding cleaning, inspection and assembly, sterilization, distribution,storage and maintenance. In the DSU the CPD Tech is responsible for completingCase Carts needed for each Surgical Procedures. The CPD Tech understands andoperates all equipment needed for this process including Ultrasonic washers, AutomaticEndoscope washers, Washer Disinfectors and Steam and Hydrogen Peroxide Sterilizers.They perform and document all testing including tests for cleanliness andsterility assurance. They have thorough knowledge of instrument trackingsoftware and scan instruments to every area as well as to the patient. Theyhave knowledge and adhere to all regulations and recommendations consistentwith his/her education and training. The CPD Tech may be present in securesterile storage, medication storage areas and human tissue bank and will adhereto aseptic technic. Developingrelationships with surgical technicians and nursing staff the CPD Techfunctions as an interdisciplinary team member who contributes to providingquality patient care and the attainment of important goals for the patient, thedepartment and the organization.

Job duties and responsibilitiesmay vary by department (see addendum A for more detail)
? Receives contaminated case carts and bins, and processes perManufacturer's instructions following universal precautions.
? Inputs items/kits into Instrument Software system - manualor with scanner.
? Processes by manually cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, andloading into washer decontaminator using multiple chemicals.
? High level disinfects endoscopes manually and usingAutomatic Reprocesser.
? Preforms and documents all tests required by AAMI, JACHOand AORN for efficacy of equipment and cleanliness for instruments/scopes.
? Disposes of trash/linen.
? Unloads items/ kits from washer decontaminators. Loads intodryers when necessary.
? Identifies priorities for surgery using surgical schedule and(EPIC) missing list.
? Inspects all instruments to ensure they are in workingorder and clean.
? Assembles kits and creates instrument count sheet for OR byentering data into Abacus ensuring each kit is complete.
? Appropriately utilizesorganizational resources including management of time, supplies, equipment andother assets.
? Other duties asassigned.
? Packages items for sterilization by wrapping orcontainerizing. Ensures all sterilization indicators are in container.
? Loads all items on rack for sterilizer using Manufacturer'sinstructions. Inputs data into Abacus for correct sterilization cycles.
? Operates sterilizers, ensuring all parameters are met anddocumented. Reports any unusual conditions to supervisor.
? Performs tests and on each cycle required by AAMI, JACHOand AORN. Ensures all regulated documents are completed.
? Identifies the need for recall when necessary.
? Performs Quality Assurance check prior to releasing eachitem for use, inputs release data into Abacus.
? Stocks shelves with sterile items using proper steriletechnique and rotation procedures.
Uses EPIC preference card to load instruments and supplies into eachcart for surgery noting any missing items.

OrganizationSkills: Ability to manage work processes in a neat and systematic way. Abilityto manage multiple tasks effectively, appropriately set priorities for jobresponsibilities and prioritize work to meet the needs of patients
Basiccomputer needed. Ability to type accurately and enter data at an intermediatelevel. Ability to utilize hand-heldtechnology and scan items in all areas. Ability to trouble shoot printers, andchange paper/labels
Abilityto follow established policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines
High School graduate or GED.
Graduate of a Sterile Processing Training program preferred
Central Processing Certification Preferred CRCST or CBSPD

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
